Pvt. Wenzel Graff

MO Inf, Co. A, 42nd Reg.

Private Wenzel Graff enlisted in the 42nd Regiment of Missouri Infantry, Co. A and was honorably discharged from the same.  He then joined G.A.R. Col. Hassendeubel Post #13 in St. Louis.

The 42nd was organized at Macon, Missouri in September of 1864.  It was attached to the District of Northern Missouri in December of 1864, to Tullahoma, Tennessee, Dept. of Cumberland until February 1865; the 4th Division unattached to Dept. of Cumberland and the 2nd Brigade, Defenses of Nashville & Chattanooga Railroad to April 1865.

Companies A, C, and H moved to Sturgeon, Missouri on September 23, 1864.  They did guard duty on line of the Northern Missouri and Hannibal and St. Joseph Railroad.  They moved on to Kentucky and Fort Donelson, Tennessee.  They did garrison duty at Shelby, Tennessee and then moved on to Nashville, Tennessee where companies H, I, and K were mustered out on March 22, 1865 and Regiment mustered out on June 28, 1865.
